Artist's Description

The south door of Kilpeck church, built in the 1100's by the Norman's. It is said that it replaced an earlier Saxon church at the same site, and has traces of Celtic foundations. The amazing thing about this church, is the pagan carvings- and the entire roofline around the church is decorated with carved corbels. That it has remained intact and so well preserved is unusual.
