Artist's Description

Twizel Bridge, near Cornhill on Tweed, Northumberland, UK. A single arch stone bridge that crosses the River Till at the village of Twizel. It remained the longest stone span in England for three centuries... The bridge was crossed by troops marching to fight at Flodden Field on 9th September 1513. They surprised the Scottish army of King James IV., and defeated them. 14,000 men died that day.
